You
know the old saying: "When
life gives you lemons, make
lemonade!" While I
believe that that is a true
statement, it is one that is
tough to consider when you have
been dealt a hand in life that
alters your life, or that of a
loved one. I know how you
feel, because I have been
there. I thought that I
would get married and have a
wonderful and easy working and
raising our children with my
wonderful wife.
Little
did I know that I would find out
that I am infertile and cannot
have children. But
why? Well, some say that I
was born this way. Others
(including myself) believe that
it could be from years of living
life in the "fast
lane" with drugs and
alcohol. Either way, I am
where I am today. So, when
my wife and I found this out 7
years ago, we looked at having a
child by donor artificial
insemination (DAI). That
proved successful right off and
we were blessed with a beautiful
little boy 9 months later.
We were happy and I hadn't had a
clue that I could love a little
boy that might not have been
"genetically" related
to me. Life was good for
two years, although challenging
as our son was never settled and
appeared to have something
wrong. That's when we
found out he is autistic.
WOW! Now, I was a little
upset with God. I had
understood that He had a plan
when I found out that I was
infertile. However, why an
autistic child?
Well,
in the Christian world we have a
saying from the Bible that God
won't give you more than you can
handle. I held onto that
truth and prayed that I would be
able to get through this HUGE
hurdle in my life. After
spending a good while wondering
"why me," it was shown
to me that I should
rejoice in my son as I was
the one blessed with the this
honor in raising him! We
are chosen specifically for our
kids, and our son was given to
us to struggle with because it
would make the successes that
more beautiful! I prayed in
thanksgiving for being given our
son and for his recovery!

In
the coming months, we will be
launching a website for the
Broken Souls ministry at www.brokensouls.org.
Broken Souls is our outreach arm
of Butz & Associates where
we provide an option for
discussions on how to make it
through this journey by relying
on God and our faith. You
will be able to post prayer
requests and have individuals
praying for your family and children
all over the world.
Finally, you will be able to
access a growing amount of
information on a practical faith
and truly "lov[ing] your
neighbor as yourself."
(Luke 10:27 NLT).
Until
that time, please call to talk
with us. We are not counselors,
but can help you talk through
your frustrations and
pain. We also are always
happy to pray for you and your
family, too. If you don't
feel like calling, then please
email us at: chris@butzassoc.com.
Take care and God Bless!
